November through December is the Super Bowl of the salon industry. Holiday parties, family photos, company events, New Year’s Eve…everyone wants to look their best, and they’re searching Google to find someone who can make it happen.
The salons that win the holiday rush aren’t necessarily the most talented. They’re the most visible. And visibility in 2021 means local SEO.
Rank for “Holiday” Keywords
Right now, people in San Antonio are starting to search things like:
- “holiday hair salon San Antonio”
- “Christmas party updo near me”
- “New Year’s Eve makeup San Antonio”
- “salon appointment for holiday photos”
Create a dedicated page on your website for holiday services. Title it something like “Holiday Hair & Makeup in San Antonio” and include your seasonal offerings, pricing, and a booking link.
This page doesn’t need to live on your site permanently…publish it in November, keep it through January, then take it down. But while it’s active, it targets searches that your competitors aren’t thinking about. For more on creating seasonal landing pages that convert, our website optimization guide for salons in summer covers the same approach for mid-year promotions.
Stack Reviews Before the Rush
You want a strong review profile before the holiday surge, not during it. You’ll be too busy in December to focus on review collection.
This week, ask every client: “Would you mind leaving us a Google review? It really helps other people find us.” Text them the link right from the chair. Follow up with an email if they don’t do it same-day.
Aim for 10-15 new reviews in November. By the time the holiday searches peak in December, you’ll have fresh, recent reviews that build trust with new clients. Optimize for “Near Me” in Your Neighborhood
“Salon near me” is one of the most searched local terms in the beauty industry. To rank for it, Google needs to know exactly where you are and what you do.
Make sure your Google Business Profile and website include:
- Your full street address
- Your neighborhood (Stone Oak, Alamo Heights, Southtown, the Pearl area, etc.)
- Your city and zip code
- Nearby landmarks (“Located two blocks from the Pearl Brewery” or “Across from North Star Mall”)
Mention your neighborhood naturally in your website content and blog posts. “As a Stone Oak salon, we know our clients value…” This helps Google associate your business with that specific area.
Create a Holiday Gift Guide
Gift cards and holiday beauty packages are huge revenue generators for salons. Create a blog post titled “The Best Holiday Beauty Gifts in San Antonio” and feature your offerings:
- Gift cards in various denominations
- Holiday packages (blowout + makeup, cut + color + treatment)
- Product gift sets
- Membership or subscription packages
This content targets searches like “beauty gift ideas San Antonio” and “salon gift cards near me.” It also gives you something to share on social media and email throughout November and December.
Claim Your Local Directory Listings
Beyond Google, make sure your salon is listed and accurate on:
- Yelp
- Facebook (with location enabled)
- Apple Maps
- Bing Places
- StyleSeat, Vagaro, or whatever booking platform you use
- San Antonio-specific directories and “best of” lists
Each listing is a citation that strengthens your local SEO and a potential source of new clients. Spend an hour this week verifying your information across all platforms. When the new year arrives, our Google Business Profile guide for San Antonio beauty salons covers how to refresh your profile for the spring booking season.
The holiday season is short and intense. The preparation you do in November determines whether December is your biggest month ever or just another busy period. Start now.
