Spring is building season in San Antonio. Homeowners are ready to start those renovation projects they have been dreaming about all winter. New construction is booming from the far West Side to New Braunfels. And when someone needs a contractor, the first thing they do is Google it.
Your Google Business Profile is often the deciding factor between getting that call or getting passed over. Let me show you why and how to make it work. For a comprehensive guide to construction Google profiles, our 2025 Google Business Profile guide for construction companies covers the latest features, and our fall local SEO strategies for filling the pipeline will keep leads coming as the year progresses.
The Map Pack Wins the Game
When someone searches “general contractor San Antonio” or “home remodeling near me,” Google shows a map with three businesses listed below it. This is the Map Pack, and it gets more clicks than any other part of the search results.
Your Google Business Profile determines whether you show up in the Map Pack. Not your website. Not your social media. Your profile. If you have not optimized it, you are invisible in the most valuable real estate on Google. Our 2025 Google Business Profile guide for construction companies covers the latest features and optimization strategies. For tips on building social media alongside your profile, see our spring social media strategies for construction, and our customer retention guide for contractors shows how a strong profile turns into repeat business.
What a Great Construction Profile Looks Like
I reviewed dozens of San Antonio construction company profiles, and the top-performing ones have a few things in common:
Lots of photos. Not five or ten…fifty or more. Job site progress photos, completed projects, before-and-afters, team photos, equipment shots. Google profiles with 50+ photos get significantly more direction requests and website clicks.
Detailed service listings. Do not just say “construction services.” List every specific service: kitchen remodeling, bathroom renovation, room additions, deck building, foundation repair, commercial buildouts. Each service helps you match different search queries.
A complete and compelling description. Mention your service area by name: “Serving San Antonio, Boerne, Helotes, Stone Oak, and the Texas Hill Country.” Include your specialties, years of experience, and what makes you different.
Consistent review generation. The contractors in the Map Pack almost always have the most reviews. More on this below.
Make Reviews Your Competitive Advantage
In construction, trust is everything. You are asking people to let you into their homes and spend thousands of dollars. Reviews are how strangers learn to trust you.
After every completed project…even the small ones…ask for a Google review. Make it part of your closeout process, like the final walkthrough. Hand the client a card with a QR code linked to your review page. Follow up by text the next day.
Pro tip: when clients leave detailed reviews mentioning specific services and locations (“They did an amazing kitchen remodel in our Alamo Heights home”), those keywords help you rank for those exact searches. Politely suggest they mention what you did and where.
Post Project Updates Weekly
Use Google Posts to share what you are working on. A weekly post with a job site photo keeps your profile active and gives potential clients fresh proof that you are busy and in demand. Try formats like:
- “Week 3 of a master bathroom remodel in the Dominion. Tile going in today.”
- “Just completed a 500 sq ft room addition in Cibolo. Turned out amazing.”
- “Now booking summer projects…schedule your consultation today.”
