Memorial Day weekend is coming, and pet owners across San Antonio are making plans. Some are heading to Canyon Lake, others are hosting backyard cookouts in Terrell Hills, and plenty are leaving town entirely. All of them need to figure out what to do with their pets. Your content should make that decision easy.
“Pet Safety for Memorial Day Weekend” Blog Post
Write a short blog post with genuinely helpful tips for keeping pets safe during the holiday. Cover the basics that pet parents worry about: fireworks anxiety, heat safety, barbecue food dangers, and pool hazards. Keep it practical and specific to San Antonio’s climate.
“San Antonio temps can hit the upper 90s by Memorial Day. If your dog will be outside for a cookout, make sure there’s shade and fresh water available at all times. Avoid walking on hot pavement…if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.”
This type of content gets shared because it’s useful, not salesy. But at the end, include a natural plug: “Heading out of town? We’ve got boarding spots available through Memorial Day weekend…book now before we fill up.”
Social Media Countdown to the Holiday
Start a five-day countdown on Instagram and Facebook leading into the weekend. Each day features a different tip or service:
- Monday: “5 days until Memorial Day. Have you booked pet sitting yet?”
- Tuesday: “4 days out. Here’s why you should get your pup groomed before the weekend.”
- Wednesday: “3 days. Our favorite pet-friendly patios in San Antonio for the long weekend.”
- Thursday: “2 days. Last-minute boarding spots are going fast.”
- Friday: “Tomorrow! Here’s our holiday schedule and how to reach us.”
This cadence builds urgency naturally and keeps you top of mind all week.
Share Pet-Friendly San Antonio Guides
Create a quick list of pet-friendly spots around the city. Phil Hardberger Park’s dog park, the pet-friendly section of the River Walk, outdoor patios on South Alamo that welcome dogs, Brackenridge Park for shaded walks. San Antonio pet owners eat this content up.
Post it as a carousel on Instagram, a blog post on your site, or a shareable graphic. Include your business name and logo so when it gets shared, your brand goes with it.
Email Your Client List Early
Don’t wait until the Friday before Memorial Day. Send your boarding and pet sitting availability email at least two weeks out. Early birds book early, and they’ll appreciate the heads-up.
“Memorial Day weekend is almost here! We still have limited boarding availability for May 26-29. Book your spot now and enjoy the holiday knowing your furry family member is in great hands.”
Include a direct booking link. If someone has to call or email to book, you’ll lose the impulse bookers…and during a holiday rush, impulse is everything. We dig deeper into holiday email timing in our guide on back-to-school email marketing for pet services.
