San Antonio winters might not bring blizzards, but they do bring cold snaps, holiday road trips, and cars that haven’t been serviced since summer. Before the season shifts, here are three moves to make on your Google Business Profile that can bring more customers into your bays.
Move 1: Update Your Services With Winter-Specific Offerings
Pull up your Google Business Profile and look at your services list. Does it include the things people need heading into winter? Battery testing, heater and defroster checks, tire inspections, coolant flushes, and pre-road-trip inspections should all be listed.
Add detailed descriptions for each. “Battery Testing…San Antonio’s temperature swings put extra stress on your car battery. Our free battery test takes 5 minutes and can save you from getting stranded this winter.” This description does double duty: it informs the customer and adds keywords for Google to match against searches.
Most auto shops in the Loop 410 area have generic service lists. Being specific immediately sets you apart. We covered more profile optimization tactics in our guide to Google Business Profile for auto shops heading into fall.
Move 2: Post a “Get Ready for Winter” Series
Use the Google Business Profile posting feature to run a three-week series. Each week, post about one seasonal concern:
Week 1: “Is your battery ready for cold mornings? Texas cold snaps can kill a weak battery overnight. Stop by for a free battery check…no appointment needed.”
Week 2: “Holiday road trip coming up? Whether you’re driving to Houston for Thanksgiving or heading to Fredericksburg for Christmas, let us do a full vehicle inspection first. $49 multi-point check.”
Week 3: “Wiper blades, headlights, and tire tread…the three things most San Antonio drivers forget to check before winter. Schedule your quick inspection today.”
Each post should include a clear photo and a CTA button. Posts stay visible for seven days, so posting weekly keeps your profile active and fresh.
Move 3: Launch a Review Blitz
Winter is a great time to build your review count because many auto shops slow down on marketing efforts…meaning less competition for visibility. For the next 30 days, ask every single customer to leave a Google review.
Print cards with a QR code and hand them out at the counter. Text a review link after service is complete. Train your service writers to say: “If you have a minute, a Google review really helps our shop get found by other drivers in the area.”
Set a goal: 20 new reviews in October. A shop on Bandera Road went from 45 to 90 reviews in a single quarter using this approach. Their profile views increased by 60%, and they attributed at least a dozen new customers directly to the improved visibility. To promote those reviews and seasonal specials on social media, see our summer social media guide for auto shops.
The Compound Effect
These three moves…updated services, consistent posting, and a review push…take maybe two hours of total effort spread across a month. But the compound effect on your local visibility can last for months. Google rewards active, complete, well-reviewed profiles with better placement in local search results.
Your competitors who ignore their profiles between now and January are giving you an open lane. Take it. Pair your profile work with targeted email marketing to keep customers coming back for summer prep and you’ll stay booked year-round.
