When someone in San Antonio searches “house cleaning near me” or “office cleaning service San Antonio,” Google shows them three businesses in the local map pack. Those three spots get the majority of clicks. The rest? Barely seen.
Your Google Business Profile determines whether you’re in that top three or buried on page two. Here’s a checklist to make sure you’re in the fight.
Step 1: Verify and Complete Your Profile
If you haven’t verified your Google Business Profile, do it today. An unverified profile can’t rank, can’t collect reviews, and can’t post updates. Verification usually takes a few days via postcard or phone.
Once verified, fill out every field:
- Business name…exactly as it appears on your truck, cards, and invoices
- Category…“Cleaning Service” as primary, then add “House Cleaning Service,” “Office Cleaning Service,” or “Carpet Cleaning Service” as secondary
- Service area…list every neighborhood and city you serve: Alamo Heights, Olmos Park, Windcrest, Converse, Schertz, Leon Valley, Helotes
- Services…add each service with a description and price range if possible
- Hours…including when you answer the phone, not just when you clean
Step 2: Add Quality Photos
Cleaning before-and-after photos are social media gold, and they work on your Google profile too. Upload at least 10-15 photos:
- Before-and-after shots of kitchens, bathrooms, offices
- Your team in uniform (builds trust for people letting you into their homes)
- Your branded vehicle
- Products and equipment you use
Add new photos monthly. Google tracks photo freshness and rewards active profiles.
Step 3: Get 5-Star Reviews Consistently
Reviews are the biggest ranking factor for the local map pack. After every cleaning job, send a text with a direct link to your Google review page. Keep it simple: “Hi! Thanks for choosing us today. If you have a minute, we’d love a Google review…[link].”
Aim for at least two to three new reviews per week. Respond to every one within 24 hours.
Step 4: Post Weekly Updates
Google Business Profile posts are free advertising that most cleaning companies ignore. Every week, post one update:
- A cleaning tip (“How to keep your shower doors streak-free”)
- A seasonal offer (“Back-to-school deep clean special…book now”)
- A customer shoutout (with permission)
- A behind-the-scenes photo of your team
Step 5: Monitor and Respond to Questions
Google lets customers ask questions on your profile. If you’re not monitoring this, random strangers might answer for you…and not always accurately. Check weekly and answer promptly.
